Special Care Requires Special People

This week I would like to highlight two upcoming podcasts that I am thrilled to share with you over the next few weeks. I am fortunate to have many friends and new acquaintances who have suggested great organizations to contact and research in an effort to spread the word about the fantastic work taking place in our communities. Call this a tease or special request but please mark your calendars for June 11th and June 18th to become acquainted with these wonderful acts of kindness and compassion.

As you receive this blog I will be preparing for an in-depth conversation with Reverend Rochelle Beckemeyer, senior pastor at Echo Christian Fellowship in Lake Orion, Michigan. Rochelle is one of those gifted individuals who is successfully juggling several challenging roles, making service to others a top priority in her purpose-driven life. In addition to her loving ministry to her congregation, she also works at Chrysler (now Stellantis) and is leading a non-profit called Safe and Sound Ministries, which aims to improve the quality of life of mentally ill and/or special needs individuals. Rochelle also serves as a guardian to five mentally ill and/or cognitively challenged adults and most importantly, is mom to her pride and joy, adopted daughter Sabrina.

Listen with me as Rochelle tells her story and talks about her plans to help more challenged young adults.

Next week I am extremely excited to spend some time with another passionate individual who is doing great stuff for young women at Vista Maria in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Jessica Marcetti is my guest and she is the perfect person to share all of the activities and services provided by this incredible organization focused on treatment programs for young women - some have been trafficked, some have harmed themselves, and some were harmed by others. I am looking forward to hearing Jessica share stories about the young ladies who have found love and support from their specialized residential treatment and the ongoing education and support provided for this often ignored segment of our community.

I hope you share my interest in learning more about these incredible organizations that are helping struggling adults and young women. Thank you to everyone who has provided some worthwhile suggestions about individuals and groups that are making the world a better place. Please keep those suggestions and ideas coming. I depend on you to spread the word and increase our conversations with other giving individuals. Have a great weekend,

Roger N. Steed
